If you’re ready to have firm abs that are free from fat, you’ll want to try belly fat exercises to trim your middle. While you may be ware of some exercises, you’ll find that there are many that will help you to burn belly fat and have the abs you’ve always dreamed of.

The first and most common belly fat exercises are crunches. These are performed by lying on your back with your knees shoulder with apart and your heels flat on the floor. You place your hands behind your head and lift the upper portion of your torso using only your stomach muscles. Many people use these belly fat exercises exclusively. But by adding a few more, you’ll get more out of your workout.

You can use crunches that focus on the lower part of your abdomen. For these, you’ll lie on your back, cross your ankles, and lift your legs six inches from the floor. This will work the lower portion of your abs. This is the part of the abdomen that is often most troublesome – especially for women.

Pilates is another form of exercise that specifically targets the abdominal muscles. These belly fat exercises will help you to have better posture, burn more fat, and have strong abs. You can take classes to learn this or check out an exercise video that contains Pilates exercises. You’ll find that you have a taller frame which also makes you look leaner.

Isometric exercises are also convenient belly fat exercises that you can do no matter where you are. For those you simply stand or sit and contract your stomach muscles for 10 seconds at a time. When you repeat this, it’s as if you’re performing stomach crunches without having to lie on the ground.

When it comes to losing belly fat, don’t forget to do aerobic exercises. These are exercises that are designed to condition the heart and lungs. But they also use up fat stores all over the body for energy. That means you’ll burn fat when you participate in them.

Try walking, jogging, swimming, or aerobics classes to help burn more fat. While can’t choose where the fat will be burned from, you can be sure that eventually it will be taken from your belly.

Belly fat exercises can help you to have the figure you desire. You need to combine strength training of your stomach muscles with aerobic activity to get the best results.

Everywhere you turn, you probably hear how exercising is a wonderful thing to do for your body. It really is a good thing to adopt into your daily routine, but have you ever wondered what exercise does for you that make it so wonderful for your health?

The first benefit of exercise is that it helps you lose weight. If you combine it with a healthy diet, exercise can help you burn off some of those calories you take in each day. The more calories you burn, the more pounds you shed off your frame.

It can also help you tone up some of your muscles. You may not necessarily need to lose weight, but you want to get rid of those annoying flabby muscles. Exercising can help you tighten your muscles, so you can say goodbye to the flab.

Another benefit is that it can increase energy for your body. How many times have you walked up a flight of stairs only to feel winded and tired? Your body isn’t used to that much effort, so when you look at the second flight, you turn away and start looking for the elevator. Exercising will help you build up endurance so that in time, when you go up a flight of stairs, you won’t bat an eye at the second flight.

Exercising can be good for your heart. In order to keep moving, your heart needs to pump the blood throughout your body efficiently. Exercising helps your heart pump the blood so you can keep moving.

It can also be a boon to your brainpower! Exercising helps your heart pump blood. When your blood is being pumped efficiently through the body, the oxygen in your blood is carried along with it. The oxygen gets to your brain and enables it to focus more and lets you think much more clearly.

It can also keep you in a good mood. Exercising helps release endorphins in your body, which makes you feel good. Some people actually get addicted to exercise because of the elevation in mood it delivers to them.

Exercise is also known to help prevent some types of cancer. It’s good for blood flow, which keeps all of your organs strong and healthy, reducing your chances of getting some types of cancer.

It also builds your immune system. It keeps you strong and active, enabling your immune system to fight off nasty germs. Those bugs can overtake you when you’re tired or weak. Your immune system can’t fight off things as efficiently when your body isn’t strong.

So the next time you hear someone mention that exercising is good for you, there will be no reason to wonder why. It has more benefits to your body than you probably ever really imagined!

There are times when the common exercise routines aren’t an option. Some people deal with balance problems while others may not have the ability to stand in order to do the popular exercise routines that most people adopt for their healthy programs. Others are just too overweight to stand and participate for long periods of time.

That still doesn’t mean they can’t benefit from exercise. There are many sit down exercises that help people who aren’t able to stand up and move. Here are some sit down exercises that work:

Leg extensions – Keep your feet flat on the floor. Raise one leg up until you get it as straight as you can and hold it there for a few seconds. If you can, flex your foot up while you raise the leg. These are good for your thigh and calf muscles. Repeat with the other leg. Do this exercise in a slow and controlled motion. Don’t rush it.

Inner thigh adduction exercise – Place a small object like a drinking water bottle between your inner thighs. Bring your inner thighs in to gently squeeze the bottle. These are good for your inner and outer thigh muscles.

Hip flexion – Sit in a chair with your feet planted firmly on the floor (or on the foot rests of a wheelchair, if you’re wheelchair-bound). Raise one leg up – keeping your knee bent and foot down. Raise the leg up a couple of inches and hold it there for a few seconds. This is good for your hip muscles.

Front raise for arms – Sit as straight as you can in a chair. Hold a drinking water bottle in one hand for a little extra added weight if you choose. With that arm straight out in front of you, raise it up shoulder level. Hold it there a little bit and release. If you choose, you can raise the arm higher as if you were raising your hand in the classroom. Repeat with the other arm.

Bicep curls – You can use the same drinking water bottle and raise your arm out to your side so that it’s shoulder level. Slowly bend your elbow in, bringing the water bottle towards you as if you were doing bicep curls in a gym. Do a few repetitions with that arm and then switch to the other arm.

Ab exercise – Sit on the edge of your chair as straight as you can with your feet firmly planted on the floor. Raise your arms out straight in front of you and slowly lean back toward the back of the chair. When you get as far back as you can, slowly raise yourself back to a normal sitting position. Keep your abdominal muscles pulled in while you do these exercises.

These are just some of the many sit down exercises out there available for you to try. Not everyone will be able to do all of these exercises, so know what your limits are and talk to your physician first to make sure they will be okay for you to do. Just remember that just because you have some limitations placed on you, it doesn’t mean that an exercise program can’t be developed for you.

You made the commitment to yourself that you’re going to start exercising regularly. You read up on some tips and tricks and ways to exercise safely, so you’re ready to begin – or are you?

Many people jump into their exercise regimens without considering if it’s safe for them to do so. There are times when a physician really should be consulted before you ever even get started. Here are some of those times when getting a doctor’s approval can make all the difference in the world:

If you are 30 pounds or more over your ideal body weight, talk to your doctor. He’ll help you plan a safe routine to be sure you’re not overdoing it. Some exercises may cause too much strain and injury for you if not done properly.

If you plan to try one of the popular diet fads in conjunction with your exercise routine, run it by your physician first. They’ll evaluate the diet plan and what your exercise routine would be and they’ll help you determine if it will be safe for you to do. Some popular fads may cause you to lose too much weight too fast, or not get adequate nutrition for a strenuous exercise program, so it may end up being too harmful for you.

If you’ve ever had any type of injury in the past, a physician will help you evaluate an exercise routine that you’ll benefit from. If you’ve injured a knee, for example, some of the exercises you’re considering might cause you to re-injure your knee if your exercises aren’t done properly.

If you’re over 40, check with your doctor. As we age, our internal organs, muscles, and tendons age as well. Some exercises can be detrimental to them because they may not be as strong as they once were.

If you have any type of serious medical condition – or have had one in the past – a doctor will need to know of your exercising plans. They’ll evaluate what exercises you want to do and will discuss with you the proper way you should execute them.

Taking the step in your life to exercise is a great decision for you to make. Attempting to make your body healthy is always a positive thing, but it’s not always the best thing to do if you don’t take the initiative to find out if whether or not it’s okay for you.

Don’t risk your health starting an exercise program because someone you know can do those exercises without any problems. Everyone is different – and how their bodies works is different as well.

Now that you’ve committed to an exercise program, you’re ready to hit the equipment. Whether you’re working out in a commercial gym or on equipment at home, it’s important to follow proper safety procedures.

If you’re a member of a commercial gym, it’s a good idea to ask for a tour of the facility before you get started with your workout. Have a staff member or trainer take you through each machine and show you how to use it properly.

Make sure that every time you work out you adjust the machine for your height and the appropriate amount of weight. If you see a machine that is in disrepair, make sure not to use it and report it to the staff immediately.

When working on equipment at home, you need to make sure that you have it assembled properly. Routinely check to make sure that nuts, bolts, and screws are completely tightened. This will ensure that your machine will stay together while you’re operating it.

Loose parts can break off or fall off during use and cause you to become injured. It only takes a few seconds to inspect your equipment and make sure it’s in good working order.

Take a look at your home equipment and determine if there are any sharp edges that should be covered with padding. Also perform routine maintenance such as cleaning and oiling machine parts.

Never try to lift more weight that you’re really capable of lifting. You should be able to lift a weight 12 times and feel fatigued at the end of that set, but not in pain. If you’re feeling pain or your muscle is exhausted before you’ve completed a set, you should choose a lighter weight.

It won’t do any good for you to lift weight that’s too heavy or use unsafe equipment in the end. Instead, you’ll likely cause an injury that will keep you from being able to work out for a while.

Any time you start a new exercise, you want to make sure that you wear the proper clothing. Of course it makes you feel good to look nice, but the best reasons for wearing the proper clothing for exercise are comfort and safety.

When you’re talking about any exercise, the most important accessory you can purchase is a good pair of shoes. Here are a few tips for choosing the right shoes:

•	When you go to purchase shoes, wear the socks you’ll normally wear to work out.
•	Choose shoes that have a lot of arch support and cushioning
•	Make sure there’s enough wiggle room for your toes. There should be at least a thumb-width of space from your toes to the end of the shoe.
•	Replace shoes that have lost their cushion or the tread on the bottom.

If you’re shopping for exercise clothing, make sure you keep both comfort and safety in mind. Choose light colored clothing that can easily be spotted from the road. Wearing dark colors can make it difficult for drivers to see you – especially in the early morning and early evening hours.

Choose fabrics that are breathable as well. Natural fibers, such as cotton, will help to draw sweat away from your skin and help you cool off. They’ll be more comfortable than fabrics such as polyester that keep moisture close the skin.

Make sure that your clothing fits properly as well. Waistbands that are too tight can cause chaffing and discomfort. Clothing that is too baggy can also cause problems. Dressing in layers can also help you to stay warm when it’s cold and then remove an article of clothing as your body warms up.

Dressing appropriately and wearing supportive shoes are great first steps to a good workout.

Stretching is an essential part of any good exercise program. There are many benefits to stretching the body.

Injury prevention. One of the most important benefits of stretching is that it keeps you from injuring your body during exercise. You’ll have fewer problems with pulled muscles and soreness if you’re body is properly stretched.

Flexibility. When you stretch your body regularly before and after exercise, you’ll have a greater overall flexibility. You’ll be able to move your body in a greater range of motion. This will help you to perform your exercises better.

Relaxation. Stretching helps your body to relax. It helps you to have lower levels of stress. This is a benefit that will do more than help you with your exercise routine – it can help you to have a better overall life.

When you’re adding a stretching component to your fitness routine, it’s critical that you do it properly. Stretching your muscles when they’re cold can cause more harm than good.

Always warm up your muscles for about 5-10 minutes before you begin to stretch. You can do this with walking or light jogging. Once your muscles are warm, you can safely stretch them.

Be gentle with your stretching. You should not feel pain while you stretch. Stretch to the point where you feel tension, but not pain. If you overextend your muscles, you can tear them. Stretching before you work out will prevent an injury from your exercise.

Stretching at the end of your exercise routine is also critical. When you stretch at the end of your exercise session, you’ll help to remove lactic acid from the muscles. This will reduce the soreness you feel later.

No exercise routine is complete without stretching. Stretching is important both before and after you exercise. However, if you choose only one of those times to stretch, it’s better to stretch at the end of your routine when your muscles are very warm.

Exercise is wonderful for keeping your body in good physical condition. However, there are times when it’s okay to take a break from exercise or change your routine to accommodate your needs.

Illness. Sometimes when you’re suffering from an illness, you need to take a break from your exercise routine. Pushing yourself to exercise when you have an infection can make the infection worse and even cause you to become easily injured.

At the very least, you may need to scale down your workout to fit your strength. For example, if you normally go for a jog, you may want to go for a walk instead or shorten the length of your route.

Injury. When you have a physical injury, you need to treat it with care. For example, continuing to run on a sprained ankle could lead to a fracture. If you have an injury that causes pain to your body, that’s a signal that you need to take it easy.

You may want to take a couple of days off from your exercise routine altogether. However, if you’re bound and determined to continue exercising, you may want to choose activities that won’t affect the injured area.

For example, if you have an injury to your upper body, focus on activities that use only your lower body and vice versa.

How do you make a decision about changing your workout? The best way to make a decision is to talk to your healthcare provider. If you’re being treated for an illness or injury, ask your doctor if you should make changes. He or she will be able to direct you on how much your routine needs to change and for how long.

Working out when you’re sick or injured can have disastrous effects. Instead of keeping you in shape, you can end up making your illness or injury worse. Taking a short break may be all you need to get healthy and be able to jump right back into your routine.

But if you intensify your illness or injury by continuing to work out, you may end up having to take a bigger break.

When it comes to exercise, motivation is critical. Many people get very excited about exercise in the beginning, but as the workouts get harder and the weight comes off more slowly, their motivation begins to fade.

You must make a continual effort to keep yourself mentally open to exercise. Here are a few tips to help you recharge your batteries:

Make Small Goals. It can help you to stay motivated when you make goals based on exercise instead of weight. For example, set a goal to exercise 3 times a week for one month. Then reward yourself when you complete it.

Create a Buddy System. For many people, exercising with a friend is a great way to stay motivated. When you’re not feeling like going, you have an automatic cheerleader.

However, you need to make sure you choose a friend who is just as committed as you are. Sometimes friends can also sabotage your efforts. You’ll have to use good judgment in selecting a workout partner.

Make a Commitment. One of the hardest things about exercise is that you have to make a long-term commitment to it. You may want to make a contract with yourself that states the reasons why you’re exercising.

Think of as many reasons as possible such as good health, shopping for clothes, being around for your family, and being a good role model. Whatever your reasons are, state them.

Once you’ve got them written down, you can keep them posted somewhere you’ll see them often. This is a tangible reminder of what got you started in the first place.

Create Some Friendly Competition. Another way to help you stay motivated to work out is to compete. Instead of focusing on your weight loss, you may want to focus on number of times you work out.

Choose a partner and determine a monthly award for the most workouts. For example, the loser can buy the winner a pedicure, lunch, or cover the winner’s gym membership for a month.

Exercising is very healthy for our bodies, but sometimes getting motivated enough to do it can be tough. More people are abandoning their exercise bikes and at-home workout tapes because they’ve started to consider these routine programs more of a chore than a benefit.

There are many exercises you can do to get the same results and have fun in the process. Try playing an active game with your kids like tag or have some running races. The time running around and having fun is actually burning calories and getting your heart pumping, so you can exercise, have some fun and spend time with your kids all at once.

If you have a swimming pool, try burning calories by splashing around and doing laps in the pool. It would be an excellent way to get some exercise in while doing something you love. Swimming also burns calories while building up your muscles. The water acts as a weight so you get more benefit from your exercise routine.

Add music to your exercise routine. Sometimes you can get motivated to exercise with just a little music to play while you move around. It makes exercising more interesting to you and gives you a little boost of energy to keep going.

Invite a friend or family member over to exercise with you. Sometimes having someone with you to joke around with helps you get through the exercise routine faster. A 30-minute exercise regimen can seem like it only took 10 minutes when you have someone to exercise with. They can inspire you while you inspire them.

You can try using a mini trampoline to make your exercise routine fun. These can make your exercise program fun and easy to do because you can bounce around and get your activity done. These mini trampolines can be easily stored since they can fold up and be placed in a closet.

You can also move your exercise bike next to the television set, so you can ride while watching your favorite show or movie. The television keeps your attention on what’s going on in the screen – and off of the exercising routine, so you can get 30 minutes of riding in before you even know it. Some people also read their favorite book while they ride their exercise bike.

Rewarding yourself is another good option. If you exercise daily for a set amount of time, then celebrate your accomplishment and give yourself a treat. Go shopping for a shirt you’ve wanted or treat yourself to a day of beauty.

Keep a personal journal and mark on it each day when you’ve completed your exercise program. When you reach a certain number of marks, you can give yourself the reward of whatever you want. Exercising can be fun if you come up with ways to make it more interesting – and the more interesting it is, the more likely you’ll be to keep it up for the long-term.
